Facility
The Barksdale Fitness Center was constructed in 2001 and is a state of the art facility. It offers:

• 2 Basketball Courts     • Cardio Room
• 4 Racquetball Courts   • Weight Room
• 1/8 Mile Indoor Track   • Aerobics

Air Force Marathon
The Air Force Marathon takes place on Sept. 20 at Wright-Patterson. ACC is going to enter a team for both the half and full marathon. Those interested in submitting for the ACC team need to have an AF Form 303 to them by July 18. Stop by the Fitness Center for the form. All others interested in going please call 456-4135.

Air Force Sports
Persons excelling in boxing, bowling, cross country, golf, fencing, rugby, shooting, Tae Kwon Do, racquetball, track and field, wrestling, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball are invited to apply for the Air Force Team. Stop by the Fitness Center to pick up a brochure or go to usafsports.com for more information.

'Break a Weight' Program
Break a Weight is an individual incentive program running July 1 through August 30 at the Fitness Center. Participants have 8 weeks to compete in lifting their best weight in squats or bench press. Upon completion, winners receive a certificate with highest weight lifted which will be posted on the fitness' facility board. Stop by the Fitness Center for the rules.

'300' Workout Incentive
'300' Workout Incentive is an individual incentive program running July 1 through August 30 at the Fitness Center based on the workout training session from the movie '300.' Participants have 8 weeks to attempt to master 300 repetitions of the following exercises: 25 overhand pull-ups, 50 deadlifts (135 lbs men/75 lbs women), 50 push-ups, 50 box jumps with 24" box, 50 floor wipers (135 lbs men/75 lbs women), 50 clean and press (25 lb men/15 lb women) and 25 overhand pull-ups. Persons who complete all 300 reps wins a t-shirt. Stop by the Fitness Center for the rules.

Personal Trainer
The Fitness Center now has a personal trainer on contract that is certified by Cooper's Institute. Goal setting, customized programs, supervised workouts, diet advice, motivation, progress tracking and more are now available. Contact the Fitness Center for details.

Tennis Lessons
The Fitness Center is pleased to announce that tennis lessons are now being offered. A USPTA Certified Tennis Instructor is teaching lessons on the courts at the North Gate entrance. The instructor has experience teaching all levels of players from beginners to advanced as well as all ages from children to senior adults. He is one of two professionals at the Cockrell Tennis Center in West Shreveport and is an International Coach for Youth Olympics with People-to-People in Spokane, WA. Group and individual lessons are available for players of all skill levels. Contact the Fitness Center to receive pricing information or to sign up.

Proper Weightlifting Techniques
The Fitness Center is hosting a class each Saturday from 9am-12pm on proper weightlifting techniques and an orientation on the facility equipment. Persons between the ages 13-15 are required to attend the facility equipment orientation. Call 456-4135 for details.

Fitness Parent/Child Area
The Fitness Center is now available for children five and under. Parents are encouraged to bring their children with them to the fitness center. The new area is equipped with VHS/DVD Player, age appropriate books, coloring books & crayons, wooden toys, two crosstrainers and a bike.

Walk, Run or Cycle to DisneyWorld
The Fitness Center is hosting the Run, Walk or Bike to Disneyworld Program. Participants track their cardio miles on a special mileage log. When their cumulative total reaches 1000 miles, they receive a t-shirt. Pick up a mileage log at the front desk of the Fitness Center.

Triple Threat Program
Start counting miles, push-ups and sit-ups in the Fitness Center's Triple Threat Program. Men and women who achieve 1000 miles, 2000 push-ups and 2000 sit-ups will receive prizes. Additional prizes are awarded at the 500 mile mark and at the 750 sit-up and push-up mark. Tracking sheets may be picked up at the front desk.

Pumphouse
The Pumphouse Fitness Annex is located behind the Barksdale Club and is available for use to the entire Barksdale community. Limited weight equipment, treadmills, cross trainers, and bicycles, shower and restroom facilities are available. Stop by the Fitness Center to get the cypher lock combination.
